The General Music classes are offered at two age levels: preschool through six year olds and elementary age students.
The Mini Music Makers class is a music class for preschool students with developmentally appropriate activities. These activities give the preschool students the experiences they need to be successful in later music classes. In-class activities include, singing, moving, listening, and beginning Orff instrument playing.
The General Music class for elementary age students will use a combination of Kodály and Orff techniques to teach children basic music reading skills, good vocal technique, movement to help internalize musical concepts, and basic composition. All of these concepts will help children grow musically and participate more fully in the worship of God in their local church.
Both General Music classes, taught in a safe and fun environment, may also include the participation of Music Education students from Shorter University to help them in their journey to become music educators in both public and private schools, as well as in their local churches.
